Dr. Dvir received his BSc and MSc in Life Sciences from Bar Ilan University, PhD in Bioengineering from Strathclyde University, Glasgow and LLB from Tel Aviv University. He has joined the Dept. of Physical Therapy at TAU in 1982, and served as head of this department during the years 1988-1993 and 1996-2004.
Dr. Dvir's research focuses on outcome parameters in rehabilitation of the motor system, particularly those relating to muscle performance using computerized isokinetic dynamometry (CID). His contribution to the field of muscle performance analysis is reflected in more than 50 papers in the field, a book he has authored on the clinical aspects of isokinetics (1st and 2nd ed., 1995 and 2004, by Churchill Livingstone) and his role as editor-in-chief (since 1998) of Isokinetics and Exercise Science, an international journal dedicated to this technology. Dr. Dvir is also the Reviews editor for Clinical Biomechanics and is an editorial board member in 4 other international journals. Dr. Dvir’s research in CID has culminated in an invention that was patented in the US and China (pending in the EU). The new linear dynamometer operates on the principle of short range of motion testing and allows, using a single platform, the testing of all major muscle groups, including those of the trunk. |
