The
Electrophoresis laboratory at the Maiman
Institute for Proteome Research is equipped with up to date
equipment of Amersham Pharmacia Biotech and BioRad.
The main aim
of the laboratory is to provide complete 2D gel
electrophoresis services, from a protein extract to
an analyzed 2D gel image. The laboratory is designed to use in the first
dimension gels with immobilized pH gradient (IPG) and home made SDS
polyacrylamide gels for second dimension. The laboratory also provides 1-D
gel electrophoresis services in order to reduce sample contamination
prior to protein identification in the mass
spectrometry laboratory.
