Research Interests

Comparative physiology with special emphasis on the bioenergetics and water economy, kidney function, digestive physiology and Intestinal transport in desert ruminants.

  Current research projects:

•  Comparative aspects in estimating daily energy expenditure by heart rate monitoring in animals.

•  Effect of acid base variables on intestinal water and solute transport, and the particular role of carbonic anhydrase in a burrowing herbivores - the mole rat (Spalax ehrenbergi) .
