Grant from the Israeli Ministry for Environmental Quality ?Cellular and molecular-level biomarcers for environmental biomonitoring of the Mediterranean coast of Israel?.
Principial investigators: Prof. Vladimir Bresler, Dr Ofer Mokady and Dr. Avigdor Abelson.
The proposed research is designed to test the applicability and utility of several cellular- and molecular-level biomarkers for monitoring environmental pollution in coastal marine areas.
2000-2002
Current Project. The German-Israeli Project in Marine Sciences: MARS 2/1. "The use of marine molluscs and fish for biomarker-based  pollution monitoring in coastal area".
Principial investigators: Prof. Vladimir Bresler, Prof. Lev Fishelson and Dr. Avigdor Abelson. German Co-Partner: Prof. Dr. Peter-Diedrich Hansen.
We propose to use a new Israeli technology of early ecological monitoring to detect and assess early adaptive and defensive responses as well as pathological and cytogenetic alterations induced by environmental pollutants within molluscan and fish populations.  Proposed technology garantees a precise, rapid, simple-to-use and cost-effective early warning monitoring and assessment of ecological and medical danger in different sites of studied coast.

The German-Israeli Project in Marine Sciences: MARS 1/1. Grant No BGR 01401 "The use of marine molluscs and additional organisms for biomarker-based  pollution monitoring in coastal area".
Principial investigators: Prof. Vladimir Bresler, Prof. Lev Fishelson and Dr. Avigdor Abelson. German Co-Partner: Prof. Dr. Peter-Diedrich Hansen.
The aim of proposed study is to develop and perfect Israeli precise, ubiquitous and reliable early warning system for the detection and evaluation of a multifactorial stress load exerted upom selected marine coastal environments in Israel and Germany. The reliability of  the early warning monitoring methodology and its ability to detect wide range of stressors will be enhanced by increasing the number of the studied bioindicator species as well as the number of examined stress-related parameters in each organism.
