The Collection of Higher Fungi, was started by N. Binyamini in 1970/1, from different regions of Israel, as well as from Sinai. Specimens are dried thermally or vacuum dried. Of the 10,000 specimens, the identified taxa include 350 species of Agaricales, 145 species of Aphyllophorales and Tremellales, about 125 species of Ascomycotina, 60 species of Gastromycetes, 55 of coprophilous fungi and 67 of Myxomycetes.

A collection from Denmark and Canada was brought to Israel by N. Binyamini for comparison with the local material. The collection serves for research, lectures and student laboratories.
