This is your gateway to learning about the "Legal Basics" Program, operated by the Student Association of the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law.

The following introduces the Program and it's goals. You are invited to contact the Program and to receive additional information.

The "Legal Basics" Program was created by the Student Association of the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law. The Association is a non-profit voluntary body, which was created for the purpose of enhancing legal awareness among the general public, in particular to bestow legal values to children.

The Program provides basic knowledge in the various fields of law and opens a window to the diverse world of law while examining timely events and topics. Instruction is done through group meetings where real-life events are discussed and analyzed and simulation games are used as well.

It is the Program's goal to give students tools, which will enable them to analyze day-to-day events. This, it is hoped, will develop the students' horizons; encourage creative thought and presenting intellectual challenges.

The Program syllabi have been designed to deal with a main topic in depth, which changes yearly. This year, the theme topic is: "The Right to Dignity and the Duty to Respect". This theme will be taught by examining issues from the field of public law, one of the cornerstones of the program.

Guest lectures on various topics will be integrated throughout the course of the Program. Also, a guided tour of a courthouse will be given where students will get an opportunity view a real trial.

At the culmination of the year, a mock trial will take place where the students will play the role of both the prosecution and the defense. Here the students will have the opportunity to deal with legal issues, using the tools that they have received during the course of the Program.

Instructors of the Program are students from the Faculty of Law, which were chosen because of their abilities, their readiness to get personally involved and their willingness to develop instructor-student relationships.

You are invited to contact the Program for further information and to set up an introductory meeting (ask for Danny Mayos)
