The criminal justice program provides representation for indigent defendants in criminal cases, in particular for defendants not entitled to representation by the Office of the Public Defender. Students in the program assist the Program’s full-time attorney in preparing cases for trial and/or for plea negotiations. They also study and assess issues of substantive criminal law and criminal procedure, with a view to proposing and facilitating reform legislation. This program provides students with a unique opportunity to learn how criminal law is applied in the context of real cases, offering them practical experience in representation, as well as important insights into the world of law-in-action.

The program was founded by Prof. Kenneth Mann in 1989.

The program is taught by Dr Hagit Lernau, Attorney Itai Hermelin .
