Lucian Arye Bebchuk is a frequent visitor to the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law as a Senior Professor by Special Appointment (an appointment he holds for the period 1998-2001). His primary appointment is at the Harvard Law School, where he is the William J. Friedman and Alicia Townsend Friedman Professor of Law, Economics, and Finance. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. Professor Bebchuk received a B.A. in mathematics and economics from the University of Haifa, an LL.B. from TAU, an LL.M. and S.J.D. from the Harvard Law School, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the Harvard Economics Department. During his graduate studies at Harvard he was a member of the Harvard Society of Fellows from 1983-5. He joined the Harvard Law School faculty in 1986 as an assistant professor and was appointed to a full professorship in 1988 and to the Friedman Professorship in 1998. His interests lie in the application of economics and finance to law. He has written extensively for both law reviews and economics journals on a wide range of subjects, including corporate control, corporate governance, bankruptcy, litigation and settlement decisions, and contracts.
