לימוד תולדות היהודים באירופה הנוצרית במאות ה 15-12. נתמקד מצד אחד במצבם הבעייתי והמורכב של המיעוט היהודי בעולם הנוצרי העוין, ובמניעים לגרושם של היהודים מרובו של האזור עד סוף ימי הביניים; ומצד שני ביצירתיות החברתית-תרבותית של התקופה שהבטיחה את המשך קיומם של היהודים והיהדות

JEWS AND CHRISTIANS IN THE MIDDLE AGES (FROM THE CRUSADES UNTIL THE EXPULSIONS)

The history of the Jews in Christian Europe from the twelfth until the sixteenth centuries. On the one hand we shall focus on the complex, problematic status of the Jewish minority in a hostile Christian world and on the factors that led to the disappearance of the Jews from most of Western Europe by the sixteenth century. On the other hand, we shall explore the social and cultural creativity that emerged in Jewish communities of the period, insuring their survival and their lasting contribution to Jewish civilization.
