סילבוס סימבוליקה והתנהגות סימבולית לפני ואחרי המהפכה הניאוליתית

השעור ידון בעיקרבחפצי אמנות מן התקופה הניאוליתית בארץ ישראל וסביבתה ובמשמעותם.
נפתח בסקירה קצרה על הפוטנציאל הטמון בניתוח חפצי אמנות, על התנהגות סימבולית וארכיאולוגיה קוגניטיבית. אחר כך נסקור מאד בקצרה את חפצי האמנות שנמצאו בתקופות הפרהיסטוריות באזורינו ונרחיב מעט בממצאי התרבות הנאטופית שקדמה לתקופה הניאוליתית.
בלב הקורס נתרכז בהכרת הממצאים האמנותיים של התקופה הניאוליתית לשלביה השונים. עיקר זמנינו יוקדש לניתוח ולהבנה של חפצי האמנות ומקומם בחברה הניאוליתית. נבחן עד כמה מבטאים חפצי אמנות את רוח התקופה ורוח השינויים החלים בה.

Symbolism and symbolic behavior before and after the Neolithic Revolution

The course discusses mainly imagery (art) items of the Neolithic period in Israel and adjacent areas in the region and their meaning. We start with a short survey on the potential such art objects have for understanding world views and social aspects of Neolithic societies. We will discuss cognitive archaeology and symbolic behavior in general. We then survey the finds in our region starting with the little we have from Paleolithic times. We shall enlarge a little on the Natufian culture but mainly concentrate on the Neolithic. The art objects of the different Neolithic phases will be presented and we shall devote most of our time to analyze these objects and try to understand their role and effects in Neolithic contexts. We shall also try to see how and to what extent do these items express the spirit of the Neolithic period and the cultural change that takes place during this period.
