השיעור יעסוק בארכיאולוגיה, היסטוריה וגיאוגרפיה היסטורית של תקופת הברזל באנטוליה (1200-550 לפנה"ס) עם דגש על:
- תולדות הממלכות הניאו-חיתיות בקפדוקיה ובצפון סוריה.
- מאפייני התרבות הפריגית.
- ממלכת לידיה ותרבותה.
- תרבות ליקיה
- ממלכת אוררטו ותרבותה.

Anatolia in the Iron Age

The course covers the archaeology, history and historical geography of Iron Age Anatolia (1200-550 BC), with particular emphasis on the history of the Neo-Hittite states in northern Syria and Cappadocia. Other topics include the Phrygian Civilization; the Lydian Kingdom, the Lycian Culture, the Kingdom of Urartu and the Greek Colonies of Ionia.

Students are expected to read selected chapters and articles in books, monographs and journals. The following is a list of suggested reading:
