במסגרת הפרו"ס נסקור את טיפוסי הקברים ונוהגי הקבורה בארץ-ישראל במהלך תקופת הברזל, תוך דיון מעמיק הן במידע הארכיאולוגי העשיר והן במקורות המקראיים הרלוונטיים. כמו כן, יושם דגש על ההיבטים החברתיים, הכלכליים והסימבוליים בנוגע לעולם המוות והקבורה במרחב הארץ-ישראלי במהלך התקופה הנדונה.

Burials and Mortuary Patterns in the Land of Israel during the Iron Age

The purpose of this course is to survey typology of tombs and burial customs in the Land of Israel during the Iron Age. Such an endeavor would involve in-depth discussion with regard to both the archaeological remains and the relevant Biblical sources. Likewise, we shall put a special emphasis on the social, economic and symbolic aspects that may be discerned from the study of the world of death and burial in the Land of Israel during the period discussed.
