סילבוס נרטיבים של כח ועונג: קריאה בכתבי המרקיז דה סאד וזאכר-מאזוך

לפני שהסדיזם והמזוכיזם מצאו את מקומם זה לצד זה בלקסיקון הסטיות, הם הופיעו ראשית בשדה הספרות בכתביהם של המרקיז דה סאד והרוזן זאכר-מאזוך. את פעילותם הספרותית של השניים מפרידות כמעט מאה שנה, ולמרות הקירבה המיוחסת לילדי רוחם, כתביהם משקפים עולם פסיכולוגי והקשרים תרבותיים שונים לחלוטין. הקורס יתמקד בקריאה של "ז'וסטין" של סאד ו"ונוס בפרווה" של מאזוך בניסיון לעמוד על הפואטיקות והמטפיזיקות השונות של שני המחברים, ובמיוחד להראות כיצד הפנטזיה הסדיסטית והפנטזיה המזוכיסטית מייצרות גילומים טקסטואליים שונים בתכלית. נקרא כמה מנציגיה הבולטים של המסורת הביקורתית על סאד, כגון בארת, פייר קלוסובסקי וז'ורז' בטאי, ונעסוק גם בתאוריות של סאדו-מזוכיזם, כמו אלו של פרויד וז'יל דלז.

Before taking their place in the lexicon of perversions, Sadism and Masochism first made their appearance in the literary works of the Marquis de Sade and Count Leopold von Sacher Masoch. Despite the affinity attributed to them, the writings of these two authors reflect psychological worlds and cultural contexts that are quite distinct, if not at odds. In this course we will focus on one novel by each author: Sade's Justine and Sacher Masoch's Venus in Furs, in an attempt to trace out their divergent poetics and metaphysics. We will also read some of the prominent representatives of the critical tradition on Sade (e.g. Barthes, Klossowski, and Bataille), and deal with theories of sadomasochism, such as those by Freud and Deleuze.
