אומנות הרטוריקה הוגדרה עוד מקדמת דנה כמרכיב חיוני בחינוכו של כל אדם משכיל ובן חורין. היא הייתה כלי רב עוצמה בעולם הפוליטי, הרשיעה וזכתה דמויות ידועות באולמות המשפט, אך יתרה מכך, אומנות הנאום והשכנוע גם תפסה מקום מרכזי בהתנצחות בין תורות אקדמיות, היוותה כלי חינוכי מרכזי ושמשה כמושא הערצה והשראה אומנותית.
הקורס "רטוריקה יישומית" משלב לימוד תיאורטי במושגי היסוד של הרטוריקה היישומית באמצעות ניתוח שיטתי של דוגמאות היסטוריות ואקטואליות. הקורס יתמקד באלמנטים התוכניים של אומנות הרטוריקה ויסייע לסטודנטים להבין באופן טוב יותר את מהותן של אינטראקציות תקשורתיות, ניתוח נכון של הנאמר, בנייה אפקטיבית של קווי טיעון ושמירה על מוקד דיון המתאים להם. הקורס עוסק בהקניית יסודות השכנוע באינטראקציות כתובות (מאמרי דעה, ניירות עמדה, חומרי הסברה) ודבורות (נאום, ראיון, משא ומתן, דיון).
הציון בקורס יתחלק באופן הבא - השתתפות ומילוי מטלות בית - 60% ומבחן כיתה מסכם – 40%.

Applied Rhetoric
Rhetoric is the art through which a speaker or writer acquires command of the world of concepts and values as presented to his audience. Since its creation, rhetoric has served as a powerful political and legal instrument, moreover, the art of speech and persuasion has also served as scientific tool, a mean for education and an object of inspiration for art.
The course will focus on the content elements of the art of Rhetoric through a systematic analysis of historical and actual examples. It will assist the students in understanding the essence of communication interactions, the construction of lines of arguments and understanding how to keep the focus of a discussion on a pre conceived, desired track.
The course will include theoretical discussions about the basic elements of the art of Applied Rhetoric alongside practical exercises of those principals in both written interactions (op-ed, position paper, public relation materials) and oral interactions (speech, interview, negotiation, debate).
The grade will be composed of: participation and home assignments 60%, final class exam 40%.
