גישות לבעיית המהימנות בבדיון

סמינריון מ.א. (פתוח לתלמידי ב.א. במסלול תורת הספרות בעלי ממוצע 85 לפחות).
במוקד הסמינר שאלה שיש לה אופי ייחודי בבידיון. לצורך זה נבדוק את מעמדו של המספר ביחס למשתתפים האחרים באקט התקשורת הסיפורי (המחבר, הקוראים והדמויות). נושאים עיקריים: אופן קיומו של המספר, טווח ידיעתו, (חוסר) מהימנותו, היערכותו לנמען. נקרא סיפורים, נובלות, שירים ומאמרים. דרישות הקורס: להציג את אחד המאמרים (מאמר שאינו כלול בביליוגרפיה המשותפת) ועבודת רפראט על טקסט (סיפורי או שירי) שלא נלמד בכתה. המעוניינים יפתחו את העבודה לסמינrריון.

The Narrator's (Un)reliability in Fiction
A 2 hour graduate seminar. Our goal is to understand what how a narrator in fiction can become unreliable. For this purpose, we'll juxtapose the narrator with the other central participants in the narrative act of communication (the author, the readers, the fictive agents). The main topics of discussion include: the narrator's ontology; his/her sources of information (omniscience vs. limited knowledge); various theoretical notions of fictional (un)reliability; and the narrator's orientation to (or awareness of) the addressee(s). The bibliography includes theoretical papers, short stories and poems (especially dramatic monologues). Each participant is expected to summarize and present a theoretical paper (that is not part of the shared bibliography) and to analyze the narrative situation in a text (that has not been discussed in class or in the bibliography).
