שאלות תיאורטיות בכתיבה אוטוביוגרפית

הסמינר יחקור את התשוקה של סופרים, משוררים, ופילוסופים לייצג את צמיחתו של האדם לתוך האנושיות ואת הרצון להסביר את גדילתו של האני האינדיבידואלי. החל מרוסו ודניאל דפו, דרך וורדסוורת, ביירון, מרי שלי, וולט ויטמן, ניטשה, אמרסון, אידית וורטון, נלה לרסן, ועד מרסל פרוסט ופיליפ רות, מנסים סופרים ומשוררים לכתוב טקסט אוטוביוגראפי שמסביר כיצד גדל מוחו של המשורר או איש הרוח. ההוגים חוקרים מימדים שונים של האישיות כגון דחפים, תשוקות וגוף, כמו גם פנים אלוהיים של ההוויה האנושית כגון החוויה האסתטית וההתמודדות עם שאלות אתיות והנשגב. כמו כן נעקוב אחר טקסטים בתיאוריה של הספרות שעוסקים בשאלה האוטוביוגראפית ונכתבו על ידי גדולי חוקרי הספרות והפמיניזם של ימינו כגון: פול דה מאן, מוריס בלנשו, ז'אק דרידה, הלן סיקסו, ברברה ג'ונסון, שושנה פלמן, וגילבט וגובר. בקורס ילמדו טקסטים אוטוביוגראפיים מהשירה והפרוזה כמו גם מאמרים של הביקורת הפוסטמודרנית והפמיניסטית. בד בבד יוקרנו סרטים שבמרכזם עומדים סיפורים אוטוביוגרפיים, הסטודנטים יצפו בעבודות אומנות רלבנטיות (אוטופורטרטים, עירום נשי וגברי), וילמדו טקסטים פסיכואנליטיים שקשורים לשאלת ההתפתחות של העצמי.

Theoretical Aspects of Autobiographical Writing

The seminar will examine the desire of novelists, poets and philosophers to represent the growth of man into humaneness and the wish to explain individual self grows. Beginning with Rousseau and Defoe, through Wordsworth, Byron, Mary Shelley, Walt Whitman, Nietzsche, Emerson, Edith Wharton, Nella Larsen, to Marcel Proust and Philip Roth these writers try to author a text that explains the growth of the mind of the poet or the man of letters. These thinkers inquire different aspects of the personality, such as drives, passions and corporeality, and they study the divine aspects of the human being, such as the aesthetic experience and ideas about ethics and the sublime. We will also study literary theory that examines autobiography. It was written by the most prominent theoreticians of our times: Paul Deman, Jacques Derrida, Maurice Blanchot, Helen Sixous, Barbara Johnson, Shoshana Felman and Gilbert and Gubar. The students will study autobiographical texts in poems and prose and postmodern and feminist articles on the same topic. At the same time, students will watch films that focus on autobiographical stories, and look at art pieces (autoportraits and female and male nude) and will study psychoanalytical text that explain the growth of selfhood.
