אודות הקורס:

טכנולוגיות פריון חדישות מאפשרות כיום ללדת בלי תלות ביחסי מין הטרוסקסואליים, להתעבר מגבר מת שזרעו נשאב לאחר מותו, לשאת עוברים שמבחינה גנטית אינם עובריה של האישה ההרה (פונדקאות), לערוך אבחונים גנטיים של עוברים וטרום עוברים, וכך למיין אותם ולערוך ביניהם סלקציה, לבחור את מין היילוד, לדחות את ההורות לגילאים מבוגרים, לסחור בביציות או לתרום אותן, ועוד ועוד.
חידושים אלו הם מקור לדיונים פמיניסטיים, אתיים, משפטיים וחברתיים סוערים בעולם כולו, שכן הם טורפים מחדש את המושגים הישנים אודות הורות ומשפחה. לאחר הכרות קצרה עם התחום של סוציולוגיה של בריאות וחולי, ועם ההיסטוריה של הגוף הנשי בראי הרפואה, יתמקד הקורס בטכנולוגיות הפריון החדישות תוך ניסיון לברר מה הופך את מדינת ישראל למדינה מתירנית במיוחד ביחסה לטכנולוגיות אלו.
