2009:
- An International Workshop: Argumentación, Controversias y Cine /Argumentation, Controversies and Cinema will be organized in Madrid on 25-27 November 2009.
Organizers of the workshop are: Eduardo de Bustos (UNED); Cristina Marras (ILIESI-CNR); Giovanni Scarafilá (Università del Salento); Luis Vega (UNED).

- The international Conference "Gelehrte Polemik: Typen und Techniken wissenschaftlicher Konfliktführung in der respublica litteraria des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts" will be held in Gießen (Germany, September 23-25). The conference is organized by Kai Bremer (JLU Gießen) and Carlos Spoerhase (CAU Kiel). Three members of the IASC (Marcelo Dascal, Gerd Fritz and Thomas Gloning) will talk at the conference.

- A workshop - seminar: Il cristianesimo antico e l'universo della polemica. Metodologia storiografia bibliografia" (Link: http://www.unical.it/portale/portaltemplates/view/view.cfm?13161) was organized by Benedetto Clausi at the Universitá della Calabria, Arcavacata di Rende, Italy, on 21th-22th May 2009.
Two members of the IASC: Adelino Cattani and Cristina Marras were invited to give a paper.
This Seminar is an initiative of the Research Project Forme della polemica in etá cristiana (III-IV secolo (PRIN 2007) coordinated by Marcello Marin of the University of Foggia.

2008:
- International Workshop on Controversies within the Scientific Revolution, Padua, Italy, on 8th-10th May 2008.
This Workshop was a joint initiative of the Research Project "Debate/Discursive Practices" (University of Padua), the International Association for the Study of Controversies (IASC), and the Galileo Chair of the History of Science (University of Padua).
The purpose of the Workshop was to explore the rich texture of debates of which the so-called Scientific Revolution was composed and from which the modern conception of science finally emerged.

2007:
- The First World Congress on Controversies in Neurology took place in Berlin on September 6-9, 2007. Marcelo Dascal, as president of IASC, was invited to open the Congress with a keynote speech on "The role of controversies in the growth of scientific knowledge".
2006:
- IASC organized the special session "Refutation and Dissuasion" at the 6th International Conference of the International Society for the Study of Argumentation (ISSA), Amsterdam 27-29 June 2006. The academic program of the conference was grouped in 25 themes and 10 parallel sessions, 300 scholars from different nationalities presented papers addressing the topic of argumentation from different disciplinary backgrounds. 23 IASC members attended the conference and presented a paper. Besides the IASC session, there were also other sessions dedicated to the topic of controversies such as that on debates, on scientific controversies, and on historical controversies.
Each day the conference was opened by a keynote speech: Thomas Goodnight, University of Southern California, presented "The duty of advocacy: argument under condition of asymmetry, disparity and difference", Marcelo Dascal, Tel Aviv University and IASC president, talked about "Dichotomy in controversy", and Trudy Govier, University of Letbridge, presented the lecture "Duets, cartoons, and tragedies: struggles with the fallacy of composition".
