The Center for Iranian Studies (CIS) is an interdisciplinary research center, focusing on promotion of knowledge and understanding of Iran. The CIS also seeks to advance research pertaining to the Jews of Iran throughout history under the auspices of the Dr. Habib Levy Program.
Through innovative research, conferences, colloquia and lectures by local and visiting scholars, the Center hopes to promote exchanges across a variety of disciplines among scholars who focus on various aspects of Iranian studies, including among others history, society, religion and Iran's regional and global status.
In its various activities, the Center seeks to provide academic, students and interested observers with a better understanding of the complex cultural and historical processes characterizing Iran and its Jewry. These activities are enhanced by conferences, lectures, and workshops, sponsored by the Center alone or in collaboration with other Institutes and Centers within and without Tel Aviv University.
The Center for Iranian Studies publishes studies in book-form, occasional papers, the Iran-Pulse - review and analysis of events and processes within and relating to Iran. The Center also regularly convenes Iran-Forum, a colloquium discussing works in progress and issues of interest relating to Iran. The center cooperates closely with the Nazarian Chair for Modern Iranian Studies.
