The Laboratory of Climatology
|
The Laboratory for Climatology, Applied Climatology and Environmental
Aspects is engaged in research and teaching of the climate of
Israel and the Mediterranean Area, in synoptical climatology,
in urban climatology, in climatic and environmental related
planning and in other environmental aspects. In the frame of the Unit,
a climatological laboratory is active which has an important impact
on the activity of the Unit. The laboratory is equipped with
computers, relevant software and meteorological equipment for field measurements.

The Remote Sensing laboratory
|
The Remote Sensing and GIS laboratory in Israel is part of the Department
of Geography and Human Environment,Tel-Aviv University Israel.
The laboratory experts in hyper spectral remote sensing (HSR) of the
environmental and deals with practical and technical problems (and solutions)
of the HSR technology. The main activities in the lab includes: basic
spectroscopy (VIS-NIR-SWIR-TIR) of soils, minerals and manmade material
and utilization of airborne and space borne sensors' for quantitative
mapping of the Earth. The sensors used are covering a wide range of
instruments such as: AVIRIS, DAIS, CASI, HYPERION, CHRIS, AISA, HyMAP.
The laboratory experts also in HSR simulation for investigating the environment
under scenarios can not be regularly achieved. The laboratory is equipped with
two reflectance spectrometers (ASD and LT), state-of-the art softwares for
data manipulation and thermal infrared image radiometer (INFRAMETRICS 760)
for both ground and air utilization. Also the laboratory has an access to a
HSR airborne scanner AISA-ES and have already acquired hundreds gigabyte of
HSR data during the past eight years. The laboratory stuff are composed of
one faculty members, three professional employees, five students for PhD and
four for MSc degrees and two postdoc candidates. Several projects are
currently running in the laboratory for the Ministry of Agriculture and for
the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy as well as for the US-AID in
Eritrea. Six remote sensing courses, including "fundaments stages in
hyperspectral remote sensing" and "spectroscopy for monitoring of the
environment" are given in the department toward MSc and PhD degrees.

The Geochemical Laboratory
|
This unique laboratory is the only analytical research laboratory
at Tel Aviv University, which dealing with groundwater geochemistry.
The laboratory is using several specific analytical methods which have
the ability to measure, monitor and to identify various groups of contaminants.

PEC LAB (Planning for the Environment with Communities)
|
PEC (PLANNING for the ENVIRONMENT with COMMUNITIES) Lab focuses on the connection between the planning
of the built environment and social, democratic, and human rights discourses. PEC Lab works on developing
specific ways to promote these principles in working with communities.
The main objective of PEC Lab is to offer a platform for research, teaching and public activities on the interrelations between PLANNING for the ENVIRONMENT with COMMUNITIES
.
