The original plan for this column included an examination of some of the more interesting (and perhaps even frightening) excesses of blogs, but as noted numerous times in the past, these columns seem to have a way of writing themselves. The final version of this column developed a different focus than that originally intended. Those excesses will have to wait for a future column.
