Configuring "Exceed" to use a single X-server:
- Launch "Exceed":
a. Locate the NAL icon on your desktop.
** NOTE: The NAL icon is a shortcut created by your coordinator, if you can't locate the NAL icon please contact your coordinator.
b. Using the left mouse button double click on the NAL's icon to launch it.
c. In the directory tree locate "Terminal Emulation", using the left mouse button double click on it or click on the "+" sign to its left.
d. Using the left mouse button double click on "X-Terminals" or click on the "+" sign to its left.
e. Using the left mouse button click once on the "Exceed" at the left directory tree, an icon titled "Exceed 6.2" should appear on the right window.
f. Using the left mouse button double click on the "Exceed 6.2" on the right window.
- A window containing buttons used in "Exceed" should appear on screen, usually at the upper left corner.
Minimize all windows:
a. Using the left mouse button click on the "-" at the upper right corner of each window untill all windows, other then the "Exceed", are minimized.
b. Your desktop should look something like this.
- Using the left mouse button click once on the "Configuration" button, located second to the right at the top row.
- Using the left mouse button double click on the "Communication" icon.
- Using the left mouse button click on the arrow located to the right of the "Mode" option to open the drop-down menu at the "Communication" setup window
- Using the left mouse button choose "XDMCP-query" from the drop down menu. Your window should look something like this.
- Using the left mouse button click on the "Configure" button. Your window should look something like this.
- In the "Connect Host:" text-box insert the name of the X-server through which you want your sessions to run, for example "ccsg.tau.ac.il" (without the quotation marks).
- Using the left mouse button click on the "OK" button.
- Using the left mouse button click on the "OK" button.
- A window asking to perform a server restart will appear on screen. If you want the changes to take effect in the current session, using the left mouse button, click on the "Yes" button, if not then click on the "No" button.
If you chose the "Yes" button:
a. A login window in which you can type in your username and password will appear on screen.
b. Locate on your "Task Bar" a window titled "exceed.cfg"
c. Using the left mouse button click once on the "exceed.cfg" window. After clicking your window should look like this.
d. Using the left mouse button click on the "File" option on the "Xconfig" window.
e. Using the left mouse button choose "Exit" from the drop down menu.
f. Login using your username and password.
If you chose the "No" button:
a. Using the left mouse button click on the "File" option on the "Xconfig" window.
b. Using the left mouse button choose "Exit" from the drop down menu.
c. Your desktop should look something like this (depending on how "Exceed" was configured previously).
