New Dean for Research at TAU

Prof. Yair Aharonowitz. previously Director of TAU's Laura Schwartz-Kipp Institute of Biotechnology, has been named TAU Dean for Research. He follows Prof. Emanuel Marom, a physical scientist known for his energetic defense and expansion of TAU research.

After receiving his M .Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from TAU, Prof. Aharonowitz was a Research Associate at MIT (USA). He has also been a visiting scientist at Oxford University (UK) and at the Karolinska Institute (Sweden), and a visiting professor at the University of Alberta (Canada).

His research interests include the molecular genetics and biosynthesis of antibiotics, and the development of new targets for new antibiotics. He is very much involved in applied research and maintains close cooperation with the pharmaceutical industry.

Prof. Aharonowitz is also the author of many highly respected scientific publications. He brings to his task many years of TAU teaching and research experience.
