The Annual Report section provides:

a) general analyses of yearly trends;
b) annual country-by-country surveys according to region;
c) statistical data;
d) abstracts of the general analyses in Hebrew.

Categorization of antisemitic activities sometimes varies from one source to another.
Our classification scheme divides these activities into:

a) attacks using violent means.
b) violent acts without the use of a weapon
c) all expressions and modes of propaganda, notably Holocaust denial

It should be emphasized that the surveys are based on reported cases only, and that the data presented
in the statistics section include only violent attacks intended to cause loss of life and cases of actual damage to property.

Aware of the difficulties in assessing whether an incident was motivated by antisemitism or was an act of hooliganism, since the identity of the perpetrators is often difficult to establish, the Institute's staff double check all incoming data. It should be noted that the variety of information coming from different areas, as well as their methods of classification, requires a diversified approach on the part of the authors and editors, thus ruling out complete uniformity. Multinational and national NGOs, government organizations, research institutes and individuals, and Israeli and Jewish organizations, supply the relevant data and material, as well as opinions and assessments.
